What do you want the code to do?

  • Guest Wi-Fi in the room

A card by the bed that joins the network without spelling out a password. Works with no internet on the phone yet, which is the whole point.

In your browser — the password is readable inside the code, so use the guest network

    Make a Wi-Fi code
  • Reception in one scan

A contact card with the property name, the front-desk number and your address, saved straight to the guest's phone.

    In your browser — static

    Make a contact card code
  • Directions to the door

A map pin for the actual entrance, which is often not where a search result drops a driver.

    In your browser — static

    Make a location code
  • A WhatsApp line for requests

Extra towels, a late checkout, a taxi. A code that opens a chat with your number and an opening line already written.

  • An editable in-room page

Room service, breakfast times, house rules — a hosted page behind a stable code, so changing the breakfast time does not mean reprinting every room.

Hosted page — free account, editable after printing

    Start from the hotel template
  • Size it for a room card

Work out the finished millimetres before the print run rather than after it.

Start with the three that always get used

Wi-Fi, reception and directions. Each is a static code: the content is inside the pattern, nothing is hosted, nothing expires and nothing needs an account. A guest with no data allowance can still join the network from the Wi-Fi card, which is exactly when they need it most.

What an editable page adds — and costs

Anything that changes with the season belongs on a hosted page: breakfast hours, room-service items, the spa timetable. The printed code points at one stable address and you edit the page. The cost is a dependency: the guest needs a working connection, and the page has to keep being served. For a Wi-Fi card that is the wrong trade; for a room-service list it is usually the right one. The static vs dynamic guide lays out both sides.

A worked room set

A property fitting out rooms typically prints: a Wi-Fi tent card on the desk, a small contact-card code inside the door with the front-desk number, and one code in the lobby with directions to the entrance for arriving drivers. Room service goes on a hosted page only if the list changes more often than the cards are reprinted.

The hotel template opens with the sections already laid out — room service, hours, house rules — ready for your own wording, rates and property name.

Printing suggestions

  • Matte card, not gloss; overhead room lighting plus gloss is the usual reason a code will not read.
  • Keep the four-module quiet zone clear — do not crop the code to fit a design.
  • Reprint Wi-Fi cards whenever the guest password changes; the old code contains the old password.
  • Check the finished dimensions with the size calculator and verify a proof in the scanner.
